Alcoholic Beverage Regulatory Attorney
We currently seeking an attorney experienced in alcoholic beverage regulatory issues, including licensing, trade practices and compliance. Either industry or law firm experience can be useful. Excellent credentials are required.
Litigation Paralegal
CMPR has a full-time position open for a paralegal with 5 years of complex litigation experience. This position requires you to work in our office.
Qualifications:
• Self-motivated and can take initiative when necessary
• Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills
• Detail oriented and ability to review, revise, and organize legal documents
• Ability to manage and work on multiple projects for various attorneys (good time-management skills and ability to quickly adapt to many different styles/personalities)
• Excellent computer skills (specifically Excel, Word and Adobe pdf)
• BA/BS degree and/or paralegal certificate from an ABA approved program
Key responsibilities may include, but not limited to:
Manage Master Calendar for team of eight litigation attorneys, two trademark attorneys (TTAB cancellation/opposition proceedings) and five legal assistants using Compulaw.
Calendaring includes, but is not limited to, state courts; federal courts; Trademark Trial and Appeals Board; state and federal courts of appeal; DFEH; DIR; land use (County and City ordinances and statutes); various licensing agencies; and other miscellaneous matters.
Support the transactional team members for legal research projects; compilations of chronologies and evidence for pre-litigation matters, and the like.
Manage collection of evidence from clients both at initial start of case and throughout discovery and pre-trial process using Logikull.
Manage collection of evidence and document production from opposing parties.
Review and prepare chronologies of evidence and facts to apply to law and claims and defenses.
Interface with IT Managers (internally, clients, and opposing counsel) to manage document collection.
Prepare initial drafts of pleadings and motions or assigned portions thereof.
Prepare declarations supporting various pleadings and motions with supporting evidence and citations.
Legal research and memorandums (proficient using Lexis, Westlaw, PACER, CM/ECF and other agency databases).
Cite checking (cite check legal and evidence citations both internal and those in briefing by opposing counsel).
Draft and respond to discovery.
Review discovery responses for meet and confer issues.
Prepare initial drafts of meet and confer letters.
Prepare deposition outlines and exhibits.
Review and summarize deposition transcripts.
Prepare evidence for trial, arbitration, summary judgment motions, etc.
Pre-trial preparation (evidence, exhibits, witness lists, jury instructions, pre-trial binders, etc.).
Witness Interviews.
Attend trial.
Assist with jury selection.
Assist with motions in limine (drafting motions, supporting declarations, and preparing exhibits).
Witness appearance coordination.
Liaison with experts. Coordinate document exchange for expert reports and deposition.
Research experts.
Prepare designations of record on appeal.
Provide research support for briefing.
Provide citations to record and checking of opposing counsel’s citations for accuracy/rebuttal.
Coordinating with other areas/departments of the Firm to develop efficient procedures and communications that streamline processes and meet various department needs.
Ability to perform complex litigation and research tasks across assigned and cross-practice areas.
Knowledge of legal billing processes and descriptions. (Knowledge of TABS is a plus.)
Maintain Westlaw/Lexis relationship; coordinate and manage updates to research platform and negotiation contract renewals.
This position requires billable hours of 1450 annually.
Legal Secretary - Litigation
CMPR has an opening for a full-time litigation assistant with a minimum of three to five years of legal secretarial/assistant experience. Qualified applicants are required to be well organized, have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and must have superior attention to detail/proofreading skills. Your resume must confirm a solid background of civil litigation experience in both State and Federal Courts.
